However I'm wondering if the audio quality in one of the Aventage series would be better. Was thinking of trying the RX-A1030. Does anyone have any comment?

do you mean Denon X2000?

The Denon has better room calibration software.

AFAIK, the version of YPAO on the 1030 cannot EQ the subwoofer, rather you must step up to the 2030 for that feature, whereas any current Denon model with Audyssey, to include the X2000, can EQ the subwoofer.

Yes the 2000.
Is it the calibration software that will make the biggest difference in fidelity?
