Check the Owner's manual and try resetting the microprocessor.

Has the "MUTING" function (pg. 22 of the owner's manual (PDF)) accidentally been activated?

what happens when you plug in your headphones... does the rcvr display show that "action". IF not, that means it "thinks" that the headphones are already plugged in and therefore the speaker outputs are shut down.

further what is the receiver display showing for output configuration in terms of speakers???

When the headphones were plugged in, the display showed this and when the headphones are unplugged the correct speaker configuration is displayed both when surround speakers are plugged in and when just the fronts are.

Try doing the microprocessor reset at least 3-4 times in a row.

did you actually check the fuses with a meter... "seem ok" sounds like "your eyes"... only superhumans can see electrons...:-)
Further, when you plug in your headphones do you actually get any sound out of them???

No haven't checked fuses with meter, where would I find the correct setting, And no sound out of the headphone, though the system does recognize that the headphone is plunged in, I will have the fuses checked tomorrow. Thank you and everyone for all your help, and sticking it out with me.

you might want to enlighten us with a brief short history of the unit.... how long have you had it, has it ever worked, when did it stop, etc. Use the resistance setting on a normal multimeter with the receiver turned off and unplugged.

No sound from the headphones doesn't sound good. How about when using the tuner input even not tuned to a station (ie. noise / static).

Anyways, the more details you provide about things, the greater chance you have that someone might be able to help.... but at this point it doesn't sound good.... :-(

I purchased  this used, I did test it as far as it powering up, warming up,  I know lesson learned here it before buying. I was wondering I have a Harmon Kardon and I had the same problem until I set it up with the remote and configured the input. since the remote is needed to manually set the FM stations, and I don't have the remote. the only thing I have to test is the CD, could it be a configuration issue?

Resetting the microprocessor would return all settings to mfr defaults which would result in "plug-n-play" based labels on the input jacks.

Now we know the rest of the story. You would help yourself by finding and following a user guide for the unit. Most units have some way of doing things thru the front panel.

Anyways, It is more than likely the unit works fine but that you have not done anything to set it up.
