Hey there guys,

I'm quite confused. I'm considering the 7800 or 6800, I've been a Marantz owner for a long time and was planning on keeping it that way. I'm going to get a Panisonic VT60 and was speaking with what I think is a knowlegable person on AV.

He told me to go with Onkyo 4520 or 1010 or a Dennon x4000, he says the Marantz doesn't do any upscalling in fact has no video processing at all built in. I've been searching like mad on this as I am pretty sure he must be wrong. I have read that the Onkyo is full of video upscalling tech. and have read the 7800 does some upscalling but I haven't read anything pushing this fact with 7800 or 6800 like I have read on the Onkyo.

This person was also saying the fact the Onkyo weighs 50lb and the Marantz is 27lb says a lot about it's power capabilities. Due to the larger amp it weighs more thus is better...

This is driving me a bit mad as I really don't want an Onkyo, I could get Denon but would prefer to stick with Marantz.

I would love some clarity here.

thanks

It does do video processing, upscales Sd to 1080p and can do 4k. It doesn't say what the processor is though.
