I bought my Denon AVR 3311ci a few years back and was thrilled. Great company, great product.

It broke last week. Evidently there is a problem where the system shuts down for non-existent overheating. No biggie, I'll find an authorized service center. It is out of warranty, and even though it is irritating to pay to fix a design defect, I will play ball.

Go to their website, type in my zip code, no service centers. Call, talk to a good dude in customer service, no service centers within 300 miles. He gives me the name of a random shop about 400 miles away. No website.

By now, you might be thinking - ha, you probably live in North Dakota, or Alaska. Nope. San Francisco. Denon has sold me a defective product that it really has no rational way of repairing. So now I have a relatively expensive brick.

That is the sound of a company that is not long for this world.

If repair is required, most folks likely end up shipping their units to a repair facility as there are generally only a few in each state. As it turns out, you have a Regional Super Service Center in Carson which would cost about $25 to ship; however, if purchased with a credit card, check with your card issuer as they may add an additional 4th year of coverage to the 3 year Denon warranty.

I'll give it a shot. Turns out my three years was up October 11. Go figure!
