I have the Oppo hooked directly into the TV and sound is sent via the 7.1 outs directly to the Marantz.  I have the Marantz set for 7.1 only.  DVDs and Blu-Rays sound great.  I believe the 7.1 setting on the Marantz essentially just lets the signal pass through and it just manages the distribution to the speakers and power.  When I play a CD in the Oppo using the 7.1, the music sounds baffled.  Is there something I need to change in the Oppo or the Marantz?

Also, I cut the cable cord 15 yrs ago and use a Samsung DTBH260F HDTV for watching TV.  Using the HDMI out this goes directly to the TV.  For sound I have the analog (red n white cable) going directly to the Marantz.  The only way I can watch TV is to access the OSD in the Marantz, turn off the 7.1 option and then change the system setup for surround.  Is there an easier way to do this?

Any help would be appreciated.
