Hi Guys, Im sure this has been asked before but all the treads I saw looked quite old so here it goes again and I apologize if this has been asked before. I am looking for a reciever to get on Black Friday for a set of Cambrisge Minx speakers and an SVS sub. I am looking for something for around USD 300 that will take these speaker to their best level as they are not 10K speakers... It would be nice to have a Zone 2 output in order to have forward compability in case I change. I dont mind last year models and I have been looking at HK, Yamaha and Onkyo. I am hoping for 7.1 in order to biamp in the future....

Thanks everuyone in advance.

Best

I was just at Best Buy yesterday and they had these three marked down to that price range:

1. Pioneer Elite VSX-43 (a whole stack of them). It has MultiZone support, 7.1, 4k passthrough. $299

2. Denon X1000 - 5.1ch, Multiroom support, $324.98

3. Marantz NR1403 - 5.1ch, no MultiRoom. Simple and sleek - $299

I've been thinking about upgrading from my HK247 and am considering one of these three. I've looked at HK's offerings and while I love the aesthetics, and the EzSet/Eq, they don't have 3D Passthrough in Standby, I've read about some technical glitches with them, and they just don't offer a compelling AVR for me at ths point unfortunately.

If anyone has one of these and cares to chime in, I'd be all ears.

First off forget finding a 7.1 just because you want to bi-amp your front L/R speakers. There isn't anything to be gained from bi-amping from a single AVR.

If you don't mind buying refurbished accessories4less has some receivers on sale Friday and are advertising them ahead of time here. That Yamaha V473 at the top looks like a good bargain. For the real cheap crowd the Onkyo 313 is --- well - cheap at $139. And they have Denon 1713 1913 and 2113 AVRs with $25 off and free shipping on Friday.

The Newegg Friday deals are out but I don't see any AVRs for their Black Friday event.

When all else fails - RTFM!

In this order:

Yamaha - I also saw the Rx-V575 (which is 7.2) on sale for $449 at Best Buy, I know it's a bit past your price point, but better than the Denon - just thought it was worth a mention.

Denon x1000 looks nice for it's price but only 5.1

Pioneer - not real big on Pioneer but the price sounds good considering the features.

Good luck and let us know what you went with...

I almost pulled the trigger on the yamaha 673, I instead went for the pioneer 1123 for $329. Both great prices on amazon. I currently have the pioneer elite vsx-43, but I think I'm going to return it in favor of the vsx-1123.

Personally, I would have gone with the Yamaha, but admittedly, I'm partial.  Let us know what you think after you've thoroughly road tested it.  I'm curious about Pioneer stuff.
