Thanks everuyone in advance.
1. Pioneer Elite VSX-43 (a whole stack of them). It has MultiZone support, 7.1, 4k passthrough. $299
2. Denon X1000 - 5.1ch, Multiroom support, $324.98
3. Marantz NR1403 - 5.1ch, no MultiRoom. Simple and sleek - $299
I've been thinking about upgrading from my HK247 and am considering one of these three. I've looked at HK's offerings and while I love the aesthetics, and the EzSet/Eq, they don't have 3D Passthrough in Standby, I've read about some technical glitches with them, and they just don't offer a compelling AVR for me at ths point unfortunately.
If anyone has one of these and cares to chime in, I'd be all ears.
If you don't mind buying refurbished accessories4less has some receivers on sale Friday and are advertising them ahead of time here. That Yamaha V473 at the top looks like a good bargain. For the real cheap crowd the Onkyo 313 is --- well - cheap at $139. And they have Denon 1713 1913 and 2113 AVRs with $25 off and free shipping on Friday.
The Newegg Friday deals are out but I don't see any AVRs for their Black Friday event.

In this order:
Yamaha - I also saw the Rx-V575 (which is 7.2) on sale for $449 at Best Buy, I know it's a bit past your price point, but better than the Denon - just thought it was worth a mention.
Denon x1000 looks nice for it's price but only 5.1
Pioneer - not real big on Pioneer but the price sounds good considering the features.
Good luck and let us know what you went with...
