So I think I've finally decided on Denon 2313ci or 3313 ci.

The main difference between the two is 3313 has Audyssey Dsx and Pre-amps.

Now I'm not sure of I would use the Pre-amps in future but when I get round to adding more speakers to bring my system up to 7.1 or 7.2 I'm told the DSX is possibly worth it?

I want to pull the trigger but not sure if the DSX/Preamp upgrade is worth it on on the 3312..

From the Audyssey website:

Audyssey DSX™ adds content for new wide and height channels to the standard 5.1 surround configuration. An algorithm was created to extract the information needed for these additional channels from the original stereo or 5.1 surround content. In addition, a blending of surround and front channels is performed to render a seamless and more enveloping soundstage.
==========
=========================================

FWIW both models you are considering have Audyssey DSX. The 3313 has preamp out jacks. If you are considering an external amp or two then the 3313 is the only one to consider. Other than the preamp outs on the 3313 they are very close to being clones. They both use Audyssey XT which IMO is more important than DSX.

According to Denons website the 2312ci doesn't have DSX?

I agree XT is the most important but when I upgrade to 7.1 I wonder if the DSX is worth the extra investment.

I'm going on the published specs from this site - which shows the 2313 as having DSX. DSX is also listed in the 2313 user's manual which I have open and did a search on 'DSX' - that gave me this:

This unit is equipped with Audyssey DSX® processor. By
connecting front height speakers to this unit and playing back
through Audyssey DSX®, you can experience a more powerful
playback expression in the height audio range. By connecting front
wide speakers, you can experience a more powerful playback
expression in the wide audio range.

Thanks man. I was looking at the 2312 that's the 2313. The 2313 wasn't showing up on my search as its sold out.. Which is frustrating because it's practically the same price as the 2312 and offers everything I need :/

The thread title references 2312CI/3312CI however post #1 references the 2313CI/3313CI so the confusion is understandable.

Thankyou do much kind sir. The 2313 was sold out yesterday but had 1 in stock when I woke up this morning. Pulled the trigger for $450 and got one.

Hope I made the right decision!

Many thanks!

While waiting on the arrival of your 2313CI, you may want to review posts #3-6 in the Denon AVR-XX13 Owner's thread linked below. Also note that the first thing you want to do after unboxing the unit is to reset the microprocessor as noted in post #5 of that thread.

Thanks for that. Reading the issues makes me hope I've made the right choice. I guess someone's going to have issues with unit either way.
