I am looking for an entry level receiver for an Energy 5.1 Take Classic and would like 2 0r 3 recommendations around $300... I am looking at the following as of this time:

SONY STRDH540 5.2-CHANNEL
Denon 5.1-Channel 3D Home Theatre Receiver (AVR-1513)
Onkyo 325-Watt 5.1 Channel Home Theatre Receiver (TX-SR313)
Harman Kardon 5.1 Channel 3D AV Receiver (AVR700)
Pioneer 5.1 Channel Network Receiver (VSX-823-K)

Thanks for any suggestions.......

Any of them should handle the job competently. Choose whichever model has the features you want and will use.

The Harman-Kardon AVR 700 is probably the best of that group IMO.

For the same price, you can get the AVR 1700, which might have more of the features you would like.

Check the list of features at the Harman-Kardon or Amazon websites to compare.

IMO the new cheap amplifiers being used by Pioneer, Sony, and Yamaha now sound like a chicken being slowly strangled.

Just a reminder...

This is a source for some reviews that are very critical if the sound quality of a unit is not up to par.

You can depend on what they say, in my experience.

My honest opinion is nonsense and your opinion is the received wisdom of the ages.

Glad we have that all settled now.
