I've got the following devices:
  • Panasonic VT50
  • Logitech Z-5500 DD5.1 sound system
  • AppleTV
  • PS3
  • Monoprice HDMI 3D/ARC Switch (Model MD-415 ARC)
  • Logitech Harmony Touch Remote

Monoprice HDMI Switch input:
  1. PS3 -> HDMI
  2. AppleTV -> HDMI

Monoprice HDMI Switch output:
  1. Panasonic VT50 -> HDMI
  2. Logitech Z-5500 -> Optical

They way I have it right now, I'm not using ARC. I'm also not using CEC, VieraLink, etc. This setup works. However, when I switch to ARC with the Monoprice switch seems like I only get audio that isn't digital. For example pro logic works, but not Dolby Digital.

Is this a limitation of ARC? I thought it could pass back 5.1 digital sound. Am I missing something in my setup? I would like ARC to work as it saves a lot of steps in my remote programming (turns HDMI switch on and off automatically), and prevents my TV from autoshutoff.
