Hey guys,

Just set up a floating entertainment center and didn't take into accout the height of my current receiver (Onkyo NR525) so i'm looking for a new receiver (even though it would probabily be cheaper to buy a new entertainment center). I have 6" of height to work with. Currently i'm looking at the HK AVR 1610 and the Marantz NR1504. I'm looking for 5.1 and network. Everything is HDMI and if needed i can always get a converter to connect older equipment. Does anyone have any feedback on either of these models or any other recommendations?

Thanks,

Mike

Normally I'd recommend a Marantz over an HK but that new switching power supply (digital amp) is kind of interesting. I'd take a look at one of the HK owners thread before making any decisions if I were you. HK has had some reliability problems in past years.

The HK should run very cool. FWIW HK has had lots of experience with digital amps - their Crown XLS series amps are very good. I had the XLS-1500 for a time. Sound quality was as good as any class A/B amp I've ever owned.

When all else fails - RTFM!

I was at Best Buy yesterday and they had the HK 1510 advertised for $99, down from $299. I didn't even need a receiver but I was ready to buy it since I had a $50 gift card in my pocket.

Of course they were out. I even had them check stock of other stores and they were out too. I don't know when the sale started but I'm sure they sold quickly.
