Hi

Is the Pioneer VSX 920 a good receiver (mainly for HT but I would like to enjoy listening classical music as well)
What would be a step up without breaking the bank?
Or any receiver significantly better in terms of sound quality will be much more expensive?
Thanks

What is your budget?

What is your room size and what are your speakers?

I am also curious why you are looking at a three year old receiver.

According to this thread of his from earlier today, it's the AVR he currently owns.

Yes, I own one
I was wondering if I could find something better. I've read somewhere the VSX920 was not so great after all....!!!

Sure you can get something better but you have to tell us how much you're willing to spend...

I haven't thought about a specific budget......
But my receiver is acting weird. 2 days ago, I had no sound on the 'BD" input, and I had to reset the unit to get it back !!!

So let's put it that way: what would be the cheapest receiver that is better than the VSX920 (I want at least 4 hdmi inputs, with upscaling of the component inputs since I have a Wii and PS2)
Any good recommendations on Accessories4less for example?

Thanks

If you can don't need 7.1, the Denon 1613 should suffice nicely.

I don't think I can install a 7.1 system in my room. I will have to stick with a 5.1
Is the Denon 1613 really better than the VSX920?

Hi bladerunner6, the Denon 1613 doesn't upconverting / upscaling the component input back through the HDMI output.
