Looking at my first real setup ever. Both of these are pawn shop finds. Yamaha rx-v663 vs onkyo ht-rc160. Yamaha is $10 more dollars. I've read about lack of hdmi ports in the Yamaha and the onkyo runs extra hot.

I'll be hooking up ps3 to receiver with hdmi, cable box to receiver with hdmi. And receiver to TV with hdmi.

What do you think would be the better receiver for a complete new guy. Something that will last. Just looking for a nice sound and can get loud. On screen display is my only must have

Can you be happy with only 2 HDMI inputs vs 5? If so the Yamaha will most likely have better reliability.

This reviewer likes the Onkyo 606 better than the Yamaha 663. The RC-160 is basically equivalent to the Onkyo 607.
