The 922 has xlr pre-outs? I see only rca sub preouts, no xlr. What are you trying to do?

Not a zone guy myself but hdmi sources are not generally not possible to downconvert for output via analog, see page 27 of your manual where it confirms that for hdmi or digital or component sources that it's not possible to downconvert to zone 2 (in other words you need analog/composite source inputs to use zone 2)

You could try using the composite audio connections (if available) from your sources instead of hdmi....

So you're planning on using one of these for each of your sources? As long as your avr can separately assign video (hdmi) and audio (rca composite) inputs I can't think of a reason right now why it shouldn't work....unless the zone first looks at hdmi being present and stops processing audio for some reason (I already deleted the manual, is there anything in there about what parameters the zone operates from?).

Rereading what you said here and i have a Qsc audio amp when i change the source i want to change video and audio and still not sure why you want to output audio from each of your units into zone 2? What would you play, music videos or something?

This is some sort of a professional consultation you're doing? Sorry, what avr is this, the 922 or the 822? Your title says 922 now you say 822.

The 922 doesn't have regular pre-outs, just subwoofer pre-outs and 2-ch zone 2 pre-outs. Are you simply trying to use the power amp for the main sound? What speaker setup is this with? A regular 5 or 7 ch setup in the main room and where is the zone 2?
