Well they sold out .Any recommendations for a similar receiver at such a great price point?

If you go to their website it says they still have them but not at the price earlier in the week. Watch them to see if they have a weekend sale on remaining stock.

2nd best price I've seen and new straight from Yamaha online store. Not the low price from Newegg but shipping is free. Wait until after at least 10 a.m. tomorrow to see if Newegg put their remaining stock back on sale.

Yes you did but I played that weekend game and waiting killed the whole deal.Well Im not going to beat myself up over this since im sure new discounts for this years models will be showing up soon (as I registered with Newegg) or perhaps something as good as the 773.Took a look at the 575 today for 499 but i dont like the idea of no 4K upconversion, only pass through but for 50 bucks more its pretty close to 773.

There will be some good discounts on other 2012 models and even 2013 models when the 2014 models are released. Don't worry about 4k upconversion in a receiver. Your new tv will handle that just fine. What else is important to your use though?

Just fantastic sound for movies and concerts. This is for a very small(8 by 10) movie theater I set up in my condo for myself. It has 7 speakers but no Sub because of condo situation. My fronts are 27 year old Polk CRS-SDA that are still considered legendary. They have two passive subs in back of each speaker box that sound amazing. So I dont really care about internet stuff or cd/MP3 playback.Only use the room for video presentations from oppo bluray and Roku 3 channels that are movie oriented. Will be buying a 4K set in future, probably an Oled if price within my reach. At present time i have a 55 Samsung LED and Panasonic digital XR-55 receiver.Im taking a hard look at Yamaha 575 but no rush.perhaps the holiday next weekend will bring some sales.

I noticed this morning Newegg took off the sale price of the 773 on web site.

Using the receiver with speakers this way I would get a receiver with at least the power of the 675/773.

Thanks.Wondered if you are familiar with open box items on Newegg?Person I talked to on phone said they had some 773 returns as open box for 319 but no warranty or guarantee everything is in box but the unit. All I care about is if remote and power cord comes with it but he could not even guarantee that.He said you have 30 days to examine unit and can return it but Im sure the return postage is on you.Sounded like a real gamble so I just put it behind me.

Just looked at the 675 on Amazon and it seems to me that the 773 is a better unit than the 675 at a lower price on amazon.

I have a Pioneer 1121. To me the Yamaha sounds better. To each their own.

Dmoney

In the beginning of this thread majority voted for denon or maranta, while just one person initially said Yamaha.
Had it not been for the deal the clear favorite of this thread was not the yamaha
You chose the Yamaha despite our advice. Your choice was made against our advice

One of the things you said you wanted for this new AVR was pre-outs. Only two models you had on your list of "finalist" had those and both were Yamaha's. And then you end up purchasing the other Yamaha that doesn't have pre-outs. We are trying to help you. I gave you a list of AVR's in your price range from Denon and Marantz(refurbs) with pre-outs that you wanted. rnattali also tried to help keep you in budget with the Yamaha 773 with pre-outs and I seconded it also. The A730 is an excellent AVR and its quite possible it's a setup problem and nothing is wrong with the AVR. Start over, read the thread for that model, get help from it, and chill out. That A730 is as good and in most cases better than the others on your list. If it doesn't work out like you think it should why can't you either send or bring it back from where you purchased.

Nothing wrong with Yamaha receivers, but it's entirely possible the 730 simply didn't like your equipment which happens and leads to sync issues, dropouts, etc., but is rarer with Yamaha than other brands IMO. Pick up a Denon or Pioneer and give those a try, they also make fine receivers.

Every brand has some problems with lipsink. Not just Yamaha. Audio decoding?
Like what? Speaker display? Seriously? Wait until you buy a brand with hdmi
handshake issues. Or pay and pray audys......
