Price will play a role. The cheaper I can get a great choice the better.
On the Denon side I am looking at the AX-2000, AX-3000 or maybe the 2113CI.
On the Yamaha side I am looking at the 673, 773 or the 675, 775.
My needs are simple as I am going to use this for movies and TV only.
1. great sound for the price
2. 3D and 4K pass through no need for up scaling or any video effects.
Does going up to the 3000 or 773/775 make sense for my needs?
Is there any reason not to get last years model if the price is right for either company.
I have read many reviews and they like both. Audioholics state the Yamaha is 1/2 star better for sound then the E400 Denon, which if I understand is almost the exact same as the 2000.
I am stuck here. Can you shed some light on my choices.
I'm not an expert on receivers, but I bought the RX-v673 about 6 weeks ago on Amazon for $399.95. I've been very pleased with it. It was very easy to setup & everything has worked well so far.
Newegg was running the 773 for $25.00 more at the same time. I like the reliability of wired over wireless connections so that is why I got the 673. That's about the only difference between the 673 & 773.
The only difference between the 673 & 675 is: 675 has MHL support, higher bit rate for FLAC files, & Spotify is available
Newegg & Amazon run specials on these Yamaha's occasionally. If you're not in a hurry you save $100 - 150.00.
I've read good reviews on the Denons but have no experience with them.
The 773 has a full preamp out. That is a major step up. Alas, the good deal on it is gone.
