Forgive me if this has been answered or discussed- I am only on page 110 of this forum-

What is the difference between what Denon and Marantz use for their DSP?

Denon says- AL24 Processing Plus

Marantz says- Analog Devices ADSP21487

Just curious, thanks!

it would probably depend on the actual model you were thinking of purchasing, can you clarify?

I had a maz sr5007, but recently decided to move up to the Denon x4000. In my weird obsessive comparison, I see that they use different named DSP's. The 07/08 Marantz's use the Analog Devices ADSP21487. Really just curious what the difference is, if any between them.

Thanks!

Well they both use Analog Devices DSP and while I can't comment on the differences between the two model numbers, I'm sure they are similar. Usually what is more important part is the DAC that the device has (i.e. ESS Sabre, Burr Brown, etc. and its corresponding bitrate (i.e. 32-bit, etc.)

It's usually agreed around here the of the current AV Receivers on the market that the X4000 is one of, if not, the best. I wouldn't be so worried.

The AD DSP 21483 (sharc) is a 32 bit floating point audio digital processor, with 5 Mbits on chip ram and 4 Mbits on chip...
Denon and Marantz have used the AD DSPs' for several generations in their AVRs...
It is an excellent chip...

Just my $0.05.... 👍😉

All of the Denon and Marantz 2012 and 2013 models (except the 1513 and E200) use the ADSP21487 (with increasing processing rates as you climb to the X4000/SR7008) with the Denon X4000 and Marantz SR7008 actually using two of them.
