Just picked my VSX-80 up from Best Buy yesterday and looking fwd to getting it setup. I noticed (after the fact) there is no Phono in for my turntable. My old receiver is a Pioneer VSX-84TXSI I was planning on keeping for my Zone 2. Any guidance on using the old receiver phono in as my pre amp in this config ? I am assuming I would need to assign one of the analog outputs from the 84TXSI back to the VSX-80.

So I forget, but was there any further models above the 80 for the elite line coming up any time soon?

I made my mind up to replace my 1018 this year after completing my addition and moving into what is the new family room which measures 14 feet wide and 34 feet deep. Added 7.1 speakers and since I was moving all the equipment, it made since to update at this time. I decide to go to best buy who had the 1124 advertised online for $500.00. I ended up getting the VXX-80 Elite instead as the had it for $550.00 in the store. What a deal. Can not wait to get this thing hooked up and running. repeated post that I posted to another thread. I appreciate all the info I got from this forum. I was pretty sure that I was sticking with Pioneer but that decision was made easier by the info found hear.

Would you recommend the VSX-1124 over the Onyko TX-NR636 or Sony STRDN1050?

SoundandVision Stated the Sony had the best sound.

Thanks

Picked up my 80 2 days ago. Set it up today and it seems I've got a lemon. I'm having the following symptoms

1-The unit is not responding to any remote control command even though the remote control LED lights up. I've tried completely resetting the remote control as described in chapter 10 of the manual but it's a no go. Of course tried the supplied batteries and a set of brand new batteries as well.
2-The character display is not showing anything. Tried to repeatedly press the dimmer button as suggested by the manual but of course due to issue #1 there is no response. The only signs of life in the front panel are the standby button and HDMI indicator turning on to blue. The front panel buttons are also responsive but have very limited functionality.
3-I'm only getting audio output to the center channel and subwoofer. Checked and double checked all connections.

Well I'm glad to see they exist (for some reason I thought the VSX series may be it and Pioneer was scaling back). Why did they even bother with VSX elites? I guess I was kind of confused about that, especially in how they stack up with the likes of the SC-81/82.
