If you're going by the content of the European manual for the 5200, remember that they have a rather different radio standard, and never have had the version of "Hybrid Digital" radio transmission that we have in the U.S.
Correct. The X5200W and X7200W have been confirmed to feature HD radio.

I can picture myself upgrading to a 4K TV in the next couple of years and I'll probably have several "legacy" components I'll be dragging along like an XBOX 360, a DVR, etc.... I'm thinking that if I add a component that is 4K capable I can plug it directly into the TV (and also not worry about missing HDCP 2.2 for a while) and route audio back to the receiver. But in the case of a game console or other devices I'd like to continue to use the switching capability of the receiver.

Curious as to what the community's thoughts are.

I personally don't want my receiver upscaling. I set it for pass through - and let the display do the upscaling. So upscaling is not a feature I worry about in a receiver myself. Especially if you have a high end projector or HDTV - I'd bet the display has the better upscaling.

Thanks jdsmoothie and Craig for the responses on upscaling--that helps a lot.

Next question--Any idea when we'll see the 5009 or 6009 for sale?

The SR5009 is available now while the SR6009 won't be released until October.

I hope the 6009 can do Atmos and that's not just reserved for the 7009

The SR7009 and AV7702 will be the lowest AVR and pre/pro that will feature Atmos.

FWIW, the upper-end models of Denon's line of receivers have Atmos and are somewhat less expensive. They have the same digital electronics as Marantz, although their analog circuits and mechanical designs differ.

^webink,

jdsmoothie would be the right person to answer this question, but my understanding is that the processor can do 7.2.4 (via the pre-outs), but the number of amp channels on the SR-7009 are limited and thus you'll need additional external amplification.

Marantz SR-7009, Oppo BPD-93, MTV 7000D, aTV, Harmony Home Control remote, KEF E301+T101, MiniDSP (2x4)+(10x10HD)+(DDRC-88A), Emotiva 2xXPA-5 (Gen2), Rythmik 2xF12G+2xF8, HiMedia Q16, LG 55EC9300.

Yes all the Marantz Atmos models (SR7009, AV7702, AV8802) will be capable of 7.2.4 and 9.2.2, the SR7009 requiring an additional 2CH external amp.

Trying to decide between 5009/6009/something else?

Currently have HK2600, Paradigm CC370, 2 front Paradigm mini monitors, 2 cheap CV rears, and an old CV sub.
Satellite, PS4, Chromecast connected to Sharp Aquos.

Main use is watching TV/movies via satellite or streaming. Some music, but not much.

Switch to Marantz? Better solution? approx 1k budget

Yup ... looks like the SR7009 will be released end of August/early Sep, beating the Denon X4100W and SR6009 to market.

Do you know if it'll be shipping with Atmos? Or will that have to wait for a firmware update?

Actually the winner is the Denon X5200W of which Amazon has 15 units in stock as of this morning.

I assume you mean no new info. My local brick-and-mortar D+M reseller is accepting orders now for delivery in September, although when in September wasn't specified. (I'm trying to wait for the AV7702, though. It's a struggle )

Does anyone know a location where the new owners manuals can be downloaded? I do not yet see them on the Marantz site, though I may be looking in the wrong place.
