How is this piece of business? I got rid of the Yamaha HTR 5990 to old and didn't support the HDMI 1.4 or later standards. Anyway
I like this one don't need a millions watts, but this one does well with Klipsch speakers. and 2 KSW subs so don't need 140 watts.
This has a lot of HDMI hookup and when units is off it keeps my passthrough.

Should work fine - I have the VSX-42, which is the same thing as a VSX-1022, and it does a good job. I think the 1020 and 1021 were a step above the 1022 - Pioneers shifted each series down a price point after the 21
