If only this Kal guy had some credentials he put in his signature, I might actually pay attention to his opinion. Thanks for the report and information Kal (and Roger).

I just received my Earthworks M50 mic and RME Fireface UC today so I will no longer be limited by my equipment but obviously still have a lot to learn. Should be fun.

By the way Kal, I'm not sure if you add updates to your articles but MiniDSP has added a new "tab" for LFE management that makes the task much easier. Just an FYI.

Yup. Already in press for the next column. I did miss the deadline for the announcement of DiracLive availability for the nanoAVR.

Great Kal...thanks. That just means more positive press for MiniDSP when you announce DiracLive in the future. Boy they've got great marketing.

Well, if they continue to introduce new and attractive products at reasonable prices, they certainly deserve the press. Contrast them with the companies that ship new innovations/products only long after the announcement.

I agree Kal. Just wondering, does MiniDSP pay for advertising with Stereophile?

I do not know if they advertise in Stereophile but, if they do, I expect they pay like everyone else. Not my bailiwick.

Refreshing Kal. So many publications now won't talk about products unless they advertise with them so thank you for supporting a small company that puts out good and innovative products. I am not associated with MiniDSP other than as a satisfied owner of a 10x10HD and NanoAVR. I originally purchased a 2x10HD but it had static problems and I sent it back and upgraded to the 10x10HD and other than shipping delays halfway around the world, customer service was great. And as we just discussed about the LFE Management, they are also improving existing/older products while coming out with new ones.

Just a note. I changed my post from 1/3 to 1 octave for the >200 Hz pass. This will work better. Sorry for my error.

A better way to go would be to have a similar product with analog inputs and analog outputs that can be placed between a pre-amp and the main amplifiers. But that solution would probably shoot the price out of reach of most people.

That's a good point for people that use multiple source components. What you are suggesting is available from a couple of compnaies, including miniDSP. Another option is to integrate the DSP functions into the amp itself. See the Berhinger iNuke DSP amps for example.

Personally, I question the need for separate DSP control over all channels for most people's setups. For my money, I have found the best tradeoff between room-setup/complexity/dollars is by focusing on separate DSP control over the sub channels, then letting a good automatic system like audyssey handle the higher frequencies in conjunction with good room treatments.

How does the 10x10 work on an AVR? I can't get the Nano to work on my elite SC-81 like my Sony Es.

You would need RCA preouts on the AVR and feed those into the 10x10 Hd. Then from the 10 x10 hd you connect it's out into your amp. That is the normal way.

If your AVR had 5.1 analog inputs and your blu ray player had 5.1 analog outputs you could also go from the player to tha 10 x 10 hd to the AVR but this second choice would not be ideal and may even create issues.

Thanks, however I finally linked up the NanoAVR with the sc-81. The key was turning off the deep color and 24hz output on the PS3 and then on the sc-81 have the PCM mode on, in direct, and video conversion to pure. Of course everything else is turned off as well in the SC-81.
