Hello Everyone:

Looking for a new AVR in the 250.00 to 300.00 range and do not know where to start (electronic knowledge impaired). Wondering if you guys could give me some assistance.

Not necessary for the power to be more than 100 watts per channel with HDMI. It will be used for a 2.1 set up driving Infinity Primus 363 speakers. Want it to be able to decode dvda, sacd, dts, dts master and Dolby true HD (understand I will possibly have to compromise on this budget). What is out there with decent quality in this price range? Your help is appreciated.

Thanks

I personally like Denon receivers in this price range, but Yamaha also has great offerings.

Virtually any current AVR at this price point can decode all but the SACD-DSD so you would be better served having that decoded in the player if possible, otherwise you will likely need to look for an older higher level model, or raise your budget level.

"JD" – jd@avscience.com ; shop.avscience.com ; 585-645-1006, AVScience - Authorized dealer for AVRs, Speakers, etc.

Daily 8am – 8pm EST (including weekends)
Call for pricing - Denon, Marantz, Yamaha, Pioneer, Onkyo, Def Tech, Atlantic Tech, Oppo
** Think the AVR is defective?  Reset the microprocessor 4-5 times.

Think I will look for an older upper end AVR. This will not be a main go to system (exercise room) thus I am trying to keep the budget down.

Thanks for your help

The lower end Onkyo models will decode DSD over HDMI.

Just wondering why you would need Dolby TrueHD and DTS MA for a 2.1 setup. Another option (mine currently), is to use an older, high end "legacy" AVR with multi channel analog input. For your price range, there are plenty of choices all across the board even some separates.
