"In speaking with our friends at OPPO, we’ve been told that although users reported success in playing Atmos with their older BDP-8x and BDP-9x series, these players aren’t guaranteed to perform flawlessly. Only the current BDP-10x series are guaranteed to fully support Seamless Branching and Atmos. The older players conformed to the then-current specifications when these models were released, but technologies have moved on. While users certainly appreciate OPPO for continuing to support their older models, ultimately the fact is that players released years ago do have their technical limitations and cannot be firmware-updated to support new features like Atmos. OPPO also confirmed that many players from other brands produced around the same time period as the BDP-8x and BDP-9x would have the same problem."

I have a 7.1.4 setup and even with that I find the neural x with true HD a much richer overall experience than content that plays in pure atmos mode.

That's not accurate. If a player can play Dolby True HD, the Atmos "sprinkles" will get to the processor assuming you have the player set to bitstream. The issue the older Oppo's had was playing Dolby True HD tracks when the movie also used complex seamless branching. That specific combination would result in audio dropouts and the workaround was to have the player convert the audio to LPCM for those movies which means the Atmos "sprinkles" would get lost.

Thanks ! The E100's will likely stand as Boston's last attempt at the high end which is really sad as they probably got only one review and it was excellent and it was on the E70 bookshelf model. Their incredible speakers a bit over 6ft tall extruded aluminium cabinets with and thick mdf baffle with 10 drivers per speaker 4 chambers and a 4 way design.

I'll see what I can do on a bit more system info and pics as it took me awhile just to find an acceptable size for avs with decent quality. As for movies I've had a chance to watch "Arrival" " Skull Island" "John Wick 2" and just finished "Get Out". The 940e is a killer display the blacks can be unreal at times and man can it deliver on HDR .

@ Wabo whats the eta on your 940E ?

Those E100's sound pretty badass. I recently watched Ghost in the Shell, the lowly 1080p version, and liked it. Good audio too. I bet the 4K version will look great. I'm still limping along with my projector, unsure what my next move will be.

1080p is still eye candy and bet Ghost in the Shell looked fantastic, I need to pick that up this week. No worries man the longer you wait the cheaper things get and size still matters I gave away my Dlp with a brand new bulb in the box and the one in it was still going strong but out with old and in with the new.

Holy mother of god those speakers are tall. Those speakers are taller than me, I am only 5'5", they could be used as height speakers for me. They look like B&W XT4's on steroids. Nice looking speakers!

Yeah, my wife keeps reminding me all the time that size matters. Then she snickers and walks away. Wonder what she means.

What size DLP did you have? When you're ready to give away your 940E think of me. I'll probably still be limping along with the same old projector.

What size DLP did you have? When you're ready to give away your 940E think of me. I'll probably still be limping along with the same old projector.

Thanks. Should be getting here the same time your new v2's arrive at the Franin castle.
It was a 73" dlp and that 940e hopefully has years before its departure by that time let's hope I remember you called dibbs.

Wow Franks got some v2's in route? sweet!

I briefly had a 73" Mits DLP back in the day. The RBE was too much and I had to get rid of it.

Yeah, the the Franin is getting two new v2's delivered to his estate. Should be any day now.
