replacing stolen gear...

Well as in my other thread I am looking to replace gear. Here I want to talk about my receiver/prepro.
Before the theft I was using a Marantz 6008 (haven't updated my sig...)
I liked it just fine and paired with my XPA-5 I enjoyed it.
But since I have bought the amp and will get another to replace the stolen one, I am thinking of going with a separate pre/pro. I like Marantz and the 7701 is high on my "gonna get" list, but before pulling the trigger I want to hear some other ideas that I may not be thinking of. I know that EMO is coming out with something pretty sweet but haven't seen it in real life yet. Looking to stay around the 2k price range though I do have SOME wiggle room.

On a long enough time line the survival rate for everyone drops to zero
Panasonic 65ZT60 (STOLEN), Samsung f8500 64"
Marantz 7008 as pre/pro
(STOLEN)Emotiva XPA-5 gen 2
(STOLEN)Axiom M22, M2, SVS PB12NSDx2, Definitive Technology Mythos 3 (STOLEN)
PS3, Xfinity X2 (beta)Working to replace stolen items...

Remember to join the Emo e-club, it's only $50 but you'll save $100 on the XPA-5 and another $200 on the XMC-1; or up to 70% off if those are in the exclusive-access list.
and by buying the XMC-1, you'll also save another 25% off on your next emo processor.
and if you do somehow reclaim your stolen gear, you'll get 50% money-back on trade-ups.
Can you tell I've been researching ways to save money?

I am not interested in the XMC-1...
fair or not, all the recent drama has me staying away from emotiva pre/pro. Their amps are top notch but the pre/pro issues (including shipping without their number 1 selling point) is too much for me to risk

I have ruled out the 7701 and now want xt32. That leaves in the Marantz world the 8801 (ouch on price) and the 7008 What am I getting for the extra cash for the 8801???

Personally I'm torn between the new Marantz 8802 or Emotiva RMC-1 or a Oppo 106 as my next-gen pre/pro...
Yamaha's new AVR, with Atmos support, comes out next month; if you don't need XLR and could see yourself using Atmos then that would be the first available AVR with it (...that I know of.)
All the big-name companies are rushing them out the doors in the next 2-4 months to make the Christmas season.
If you don't need those features, then sky's the limit...
For me, +11.2 XLR and Atmos is NOT-OPTIONAL, so that rules out Yamaha and a number of others...

oh, I forgot to mention that until the end of July you save double that with the e-club (20% off all purchases), so that's $200 savings on the XPA-5; so you'll probably want in on that...

I can understand the hesitation on the XMC-1, until the word on the street is that it is golden and not a turd, nobody wants to touch it with a 10ft pole, and even then no HDMI 2.0 support!

I ended up with a 7008, and am so far happy with it. XT32 makes a huge difference!

How about an Anthem MRX as a pre/pro?

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see you made your choice. Enjoy your new receiver!

The Anthem was on my short list. What made my decision was the boss (wife) didn't want to learn a new system and was comfortable with Marantz. That was the tipping point and so far I am pretty happy with it.
