Best Low End Receiver with Apple Airplay?

I have a Marantz SR5008 in my weight room and now I want to move it into my bedroom for 5.1 surround. The problem is my wife loves Air Play in the weight room and whatever goes back in place must have Air Play, but I am just running Stereo speakers in that room. So here is my question: What is the most cost effective receiver that has Apple Airplay and HDMI inputs that is reliable on Air Play?

Right now I am considering the Marantz NR1504 (around $500) to go in the weight room so I can move the SR5008 in my bedroom.

I appreciate anyone's time on this matter.

Denon e300 or x1000. These are refurbs with 1 year warranty.

http://www.accessories4less.com/make...airplay/1.html
http://www.accessories4less.com/make...airplay/1.html

If you want brand new here is the x1000 with 3 year warranty.
http://www.amazon.com/Denon-AVR-X100.../dp/B00CALM2JY

new e300 with 2 year warranty.
http://www.amazon.com/Denon-AVR-E300...rds=denon+e300

for the $30 difference get the x1000. You get 1 extra year of warranty, Audyssey MultEQ XT, additional HDMI input and better speaker connectors (real binding posts)

If you need a slimline model then get the Marantz NR1504. But it is basically a slimmed down x1000 for $200 more.

Marantz and Denon are sister companies so you should be familiar how Airplay works on either model.

How does this receiver sound with movies and watching TV? Are there any subwoofer equalizations? What high end receivers would you compare it with? What do you feel makes this receiver special?

(1) It is clean, powerful and dynamic

(2) It does not EQ the sub

(3) I prefer it over Pioneer, Marantz, Denon, Yamaha, Sherwood, etc....

(4) Easy to operate - clean dynamic sound for music and movies - good picture -
THX Select 2 option - 3 12-volt triggers - zone 2 and zone 3, and you can power
zone 2 with the receiver amp - good on screen display/change options, plus the
volume level control on screen - plus, good frills people are looking for - has a
good remote - also, 7.2 pre-outs.

Where can you find all this, at this price?

I am not a big fan of Audyssey, or the other different receivers auto calabritation.

Now if one is looking for the higher level Audyssey, then keep looking - however,
if one does not care about all that > then this is a solid receiver option.

Prices are still out there up to over $1000

Your option/choice and call

Does Onkyo make any receivers in Malaysia? This Tascam looks very close to that brand. About the 828 model.
The front and back look similar. The same audyssey and thx. The manual and listing of specs is almost the same.
No warranty but still not bad for $200. The remote has only 4 buttons dedicated to 8 hdmi inputs. Even worse than onkyo.

It is based off the Integra (Onkyo) 30.4 receiver - I do not have any problems with HDMI and the remote.

The only problem is when you actually try to use every hdmi port. Guess you could reassign those popular am/fm buttons.
Onkyo/Integra has been doing that for years. And don't expect long term reliability. Built to last about one year.

OK so the Tascam pa-r200 is an Integra 30.4 with a rack mount faceplate. 2012 model. I don't see any itunes airplay. I use that a lot and the op asked for it.

You will do it this way > Plug in an Apple iPhone, iPad, or iPod and play your music library through the PA-R200.
Just like the Marantz that the OP was looking at.

You can contol HDMI ports via the BD/DVD, CBL/SAT, STB, GAME, PC, AUX, TV/CD, and NET buttons.

I am not concerned or worried about the reliability of this receiver - I own it and I really do like it.

Now if you do not desire it, or like it - then go and buy something else - there are many people happy with this
receiver - and for the killer price, it is a solid deal. My recommendation stands.

Actually no. The Marantz NR1504 the OP is looking at has built-in Airplay, so the iDevices (or Android phones) can wirelessly stream to it.

However or whatever - one can still play itunes on the Tascam

I think amazon still has some Pioneer receivers from last year with airplay and a bunch of other stuff too. The 1123 is $350-ish.

Thanks all for your recommendations...and you guys got me looking again and I'm leaning towards X1000. Air Play is a must cuz the wife streams YouTube audio to the SR5008 (think popular music videos while she runs on the treadmill). Air Play has to work.

Now why can't I not come to AVS Forum and not look at going big? Haven't been on here since I got my Denon 2310 CI!! Jeeze...was trying to avoid doing hords of research on everything then you guys post these great deals on the Denons...I get to looking...and I'm seriously trying to talk myself out of a Denon X4000 right now. Love love love the Marantz in the weight room....then I found out someone local has the SR7007 for $700, love the look and sound of Marantz...but that model does not have multi xt 32 that the X4000 has, this is for a bedroom viewing (small rooms with book shelf speakers and center...wife and I have extensive blue ray collection...but I can go cheap with the X1000 in the weight room, shift the SR5008 to the bedroom and try it...it has pre-outs...could go seperates with Emotiva...uggh!!

Here we go again...

I would aim with going that direction first - since you like Denon and the X1000 has good pricing now.

Now as far as streaming YouTube audio - to each their own.

What did you end up doing, Robert? I'm curious because I'm in a similar situation now.

For $100, you can upgrade any non-airplay receiver t an airplay one. Just pick up either an AppleTV or an Airport Express. The former requires a screen to be on, the latter does not.

Yes, I know. The disadvantage of getting an Apple TV or Airport Express, though, is that you have to manually turn on the receiver and change its input to hear the AirPlayed content. With a receiver, it will automatically turn on and play the content. For me (and for the WAF), this is a huge improvement. I'm just not sure it's worth $200.
