Question Receiver turn it self off. be concern?.

Hello fellow members on avs forum,
i'v been doing a little summer cleaning of my entertainment center / speaker wiring cleanup.
I had my side surround speakers unhook while the receiver was on,which i forgot to turn off. All of the sudden it just shut down i take it one of the bare wires fell down to the floor.

I didn't smell any burn smoke from the receiver at all it just went into protection mode i guess. Will the unit still run okay?. (pioneer vsx 1121-k) THX

Most likely yes. Just ensure the unit is powered off when you reconnect the speaker wire to the posts.

The Pioneers expect a speaker load on every amplifier that MCACC said had a speaker attached. When they don't see one, they go into protection mode even though there was no amplifier overheating. If you decide to remove some speakers from the receiver in the future be sure to run MCACC again or you will never get it running. No harm done. Follow JD's advice above.
