I've got an older Sony HTIB setup in the bedroom. It's not passing through the HDMI audio, so I have to use optical for the sound
. It's time to upgrade. I'd move my main theater AVR up and get a bit better one for the main room but the Pioneer SC-1522 is a bit much for the bedroom IMO.
In all reality I won't be running REW sweeps, doing any acoustic treatments, etc etc. At most I'll put some nicer in walls in and upgrade the sub.
I'll go either complete HTIB or separates. I have all the mains/surrounds up now so although I will replace them I don't have to do it right away. The main thing right now is an upgraded AVR that will decode Dolby True HD / DTS Master Audio etc.
I'll have a media player and netflix type streaming box hooked up, along with HD cable TV. So at least 3 HDMI ports, prefer four or five.
Airplay would be a huge plus. Huge!
Control by iPad app is a must.
I'm familiar with Pioneer and actually prefer MCACC, but in this situation Audyssey might be the better choice for the set it and forget it option.
I'd consider a used AVR any day. Refurbished too. I'd like to keep the price down as much as possible. Also looking at new TVs for the wall, and as I mentioned speakers and a sub.
Looking forward to some suggestions.
