1123 for sure, that's a no brainer.

VSX-524 doesn't even have networking, internet radio streaming , etc.

im head to best buy this morning when they open to see if it is still there. the site says excellent condition and no damage. almost sounds too good.

i bought the 1123. it was like it just came out of the box. speaker terminals were even still tight.

only thing was that it didnt have the remote or the calibration mic.

any sugguestions on the cheapest place for a remote and would it be possible to use a friends mic that came with his onkyo receiver?

Onkyo mic will not work with Pioneer receiver. Two different calibration systems and microphones.

Have the folks at best buy search for the remote and mic. they are usually packed with the owners manual. You can also call Pioneer about replacement parts.

May recommend looking into the Harmony remote instead of buying the pioneer. I have the Harmony One which works great, and greatly simplifies having to use 3+ remotes all the time just to watch TV.
