7.2 vs RCA Y-Splitter

Hey everybody! I'm trying to decide between a Denon X2000 or X3000 and Onkyo NR636 or NR737.
The X3000, NR636 and NR737 are all 7.2 receivers, while the extremely cheap X2000 is just 7.1

Now for my question: is there a difference (when not using multiple rooms) between using the supplied .2 LFE outputs vs using an RCA Y-splitter for two subwoofers? Like differences in signal processing or channel splitting that would make one better/worse than the other?

While I'm at it, does anybody recommend one over the other when it comes to these four? Any well known hitches or benefits my lack of experience could make me ignorant to?
I understand Denon utilizes Audyssey while Onkyo has its "AccuEQ" which I've never heard of, making me sort of wary.

Onkyo HDMI failures....so I'd never buy an Onkyo.

Coming from a little HTIB Yamaha with horrible handshake issues, that's a pretty big red flag for me - thanks for the heads up

Adding a "Y" splitter to the X2000 would be just as effective as built-in dual sub pre-outs.
