Torn between two receivers

The mod bug has bit me ever since I started "browsing" for a new projector and a month later I have a Sony HW40ES at my doorstep, I digress!

I'm torn between two receivers at the moment so I need your help on which one may be best!

Before I say which two, I'll tell you which speakers I'm running (nothing fancy shmancy)

Pioneer Andrew Jones Center, two floorstanding speakers, two bookshelf speakers, and a SVS pb-1000

Now the two receivers I want are 7.2 so I would just add two more of the AJ bookshelf speakers

I'm torn between the MARANTZ SR5008 and the DENON AVR-2312CI

Which one would you go for?

Why the older Denon? X3000 or X4000 would be better choices in my opinion.

Well because I found it for $369 and the x3000 can be found no cheaper than $549

I don't really mind that it's the older since it can be had for so cheap and it meets all my needs which are 1080p/4k/3D as well as a 7.2 channels, airplay, and a minimum of 100 watts per channel.

Are the prices comparable? If so, I'd get the Marantz SR5008. I like having the 7.1 preouts on the Marantz.

I'd also probably get the newer Denon x2000 over the 2312. You can get it for $399.

Both the x2000 and SR5008 give you this feature which I'd find useful.

*Video Select lets you listen to music (network, iPod/USB, or tuner) while watching video from a different source

is the Marantz in that same price range as the 2312? If so, get it!

The marantz is $499 but that's fine because my budget is $500 for a new receiver.

The x2000 looks good but for some reason the marantz is luring me in, I was just hoping someone would tell me the denon is better so I can save some money but if the marantz is better I'll order it now haha

What follows is my opinion so treat it as such.

I have owned three Denon AVRs in recent years and this year replaced one of them with a Marantz AVR. I would tell you to go with the Marantz because it is a better receiver. How do I quantify better? Ease of setup and ease of use. The Marantz setup menus are very easy to navigate, understand, and make changes, but I cannot say the same for Denon setup menus. Even if you have the Denon owners manual in hand while working through the setup you may find yourself wondering why you cannot locate features in the menus.

I feel like the Marantz AVR will be the correct choice as well, thanks for your input! I haven't heard one bad thing about them so I'm excited to get my hands on it soon.

Dud you got lucky because I pM,Ed you and told you they had 1 floor model left that they refused to ship.. You can not get another x4000 for that price .. The only reason you got it for that is because I told you it was that cheap.. Be a bud and sell it to me for $299..

If we too can get a x4000 for $199 then get me one and I will give you $100 for your trouble... Actually I will give you $399 so $200 for your trouble..
