Denon AVR Subwoofer LFE problem with two channel audio

Hey guys, trying to get my cuz's AVR going here. When we use the "LFE" setting then the 5.1 audio sounds fantastic, but two-channel audio is missing the LFE output. On the other hand, when we use the LFE + Main setting, 5.1 sounds like crap (muddied) and the two-channel audio sounds great because now it has the LFE output.

Any ideas?

Denon 2311CI AVR with Audyssey with phantom center channel (two mains, two rears and one sub).

Make sure all your speakers are set to SMALL instead of LARGE. Then the sub will kick in on 2 channel audio as well as 5.1.
