Please help me decide on amp for Boston M340s: Emotiva UPA-200 or Crown XLS-1000

I am ordering a pair of Boston M340s today which I plan to supplement with a SVS PB-1000. To drive the Bostons, I'm looking at these two amps both currently priced at $299. The input will be a USB DAC (probably Audioengine D1).

I realize the Crown will need balanced input, so I would add a ROLLS MB15b or Art CLEANBoxPro:

Flac -> J River MC -> AudioEngine D1 -> (un/balanced conversion) -> Amp -> M340s

Crown XLS-1000

Emotiva UPA-200

I get the impression that the Crown may be a better match for the speakers, but I have been happy with Emotiva in the past. My biggest concern with the Crown is the fan and some mentions about hiss. I'm assuming the hiss is from not using balanced inputs.

If you were making this choice, what would you choose? I'm not married to any of this equipment if there are better options to drive the M340s.

The Crown XLS Drivecore series has both XLR and RCA inputs. As long as your pre or DAC or whatever you're using as a pre has 1.4V or higher output you won't need to boost the signal with a CleanBox.

I have 3 Crown XLS Drivecore amps so obviously I think they sound good. Haven't heard the UPA-200 so I can't make any direct comparisons.

If you think you'll ever make the move to XLR connections via a DAC or an OPPO or some other device, definitely get the Crown.

Fan may never come on at "reasonable" volume level.

As for hiss I did have some hiss, but I only heard it when near the speakers

Did you eliminate or find the source of the hiss? Does the Crown produce the noise itself?

I presume the hiss was from the amp. I have no reason to believe otherwise. There's always some noise in electronics but the hiss seemed excessive compared to what I am used to with modern AVRs
