I know the Denon is rated with slightly more power 140w vs. 125w @ 8 ohms. The X5200 is made in Japan whereas the SR-7009 is made in China. The 7009 has one more component video input than the 5200. The 7009 has 7.1 ch analog audio inputs where the 5200 has no 7.1 input. The 5200 has 1 more pair of analog stereo inputs than the 7009. The 5200 has one more composite video input than the 7009. Internally, each unit has its own amplifier designs (HDAM vs. monolithic something or other). That is what I can remember right off.

Also: X5200w available now. SR-7009 TBA.

Great review! Makes me even more anxious for the AV7702 now.

Bringing this one back from the dead (almost). Which one would you guys purchase between to two models?

Here are the upside:

DENON
- Beefier amp section judging by the specs
- Japan made

MARANTZ
- Marantz name
- Marantz design match up with external amps
- HDAM (is it really worth it)

Some people say that Marantz sounds warmer and Denon leaner. It sounds like BS to me put I would like to hear some opinions about it
