Question Questions about a Denon S700W

I have connected my Denon S700W with 2 R5Bi's for the front speakers and 1 R5Ci for the center. I also have an Outlaw LFM-1 Plus as the Sub. I have 2 more R5Ci's for the surrounds but those wont be connected for a while. At this point I only have DirecTV and an HD TV connected via an HDMI connection.

The receiver when in auto mode only plays PCM to the 2 front speakers and not the center. What should I do to get the center to work in auto mode? Note: the center works in Movie mode.

Do I need to connect an optical audio cable from my DirecTV to my receiver?

Thanks! I have have more questions later in this thread.

Sounds like you need to enable dolby digital
In your directv HD receiver.

Go to the system set up menu
And then audio then select dolby digital.

You should have it set up this way
Directv box-hdmi to avr-avr hdmi out to TV hdmi in.

No need for optical cable unless you have
HDMI handshake issues between directv receiver
And your avr. (It happens)

Oh, ok. So basically I need to change the setting in the DirecTV menu.

Yes that's how I have it connected.

How do I know if I have handshake issues?

When a PCM 2.0 channel is playing on DTV, you can press the MOVIE button on the remote and select DD PLII to simulate 5.1 audio.

Firmware Update Error Denos AVR-S700W

I was update firmware for Denon AVR-S700W and have problem with wifi connection. After this display show Update retry and after connectionfail03 or connectionfail10E.
I was seeing this problem with different Denon models but I didn't find to S700W.
I tried install by USB but the receiver doesn't read the pendrive.
How can I resolve this big problem ?
