Refurbished you can get the Denon 4311 - 4520 - x4100 - Integra DTR 60.5 - and and the ones mentioned by JD.

There are probably a few I missed available there too.

When all else fails - RTFM!

Cheapest I've seen are the X4000s at accessories4less.com, they ran out of Onkyo 818s a while ago (unless they're back, they were less $).

^ $689 shipped at the moment. That's the one right now!

Alan P: A heads up... Onkyo's implementation of XT32 on the TX-NR818 and TX-NR929 models does not include SubEQ HT for dual sub EQ. Also/correspondingly, the sub outputs (2 off) are not independent.

Hi All-

Would anyone know which is the cheapest AVR with Audyssey XT32 that also has a WiFi antennae?

Ultimately, I really only want/need WiFi for firmware updates. So the Denon X4000s referenced here might work for me as well, and I'd just have to run one very long network cable once in awhile as a workaround.

Thanks.

The Onkyo 818 was certainly it.

Me, right now, if I wanted a cheap XT32 and without any care for Dolby Atmos; I'd check for a Denon 4520 on sale ($988 or so).

And, if Atmos was part of my 'elevated' decor, the Denon X4100W.

The X4000 is unlikely to be getting more than 2 or 3 more updates (if even that many).

Point taken, thanks for the note. I dont want to hijack the thread, but I'm just looking for a decent mid-fi AVR to power up my old set of B&W 804S / HMT4S in a 5.1 setup in my basement. I have a Velodyne DD10 is going to be the .1

I figured something with XT32 was the way to go.

I'll look into the other models mentioned as well.

Hey NorthSky,

Just wanted to ask why the 4520 over the X4000? Is there a good reason to spend $200+ more on the 4520??

That is a very good question, and owners of both them receivers have better chance to have more answers than I.

But! I do have an opinion.

Methinks the 4520 is built solider (in & out).

Well, as long as the X4000 makes it through the warranty period, I'll probably be upgrading again anyways.

I don't truly care where it is made to be perfectly honest.

Look: The 4000 is a $1,000 receiver (roughly), and the 4520 a $2,000 one (roughly) and the flagship. ...$1,299 and $2,499 MSRP respectively.

The difference in price (roughly on sale) is about $300.
And the difference in weight is roughly ten pounds.
The 4000 uses a BB PCM-1690 8-channel 24-bit DAC on a single chip, and the 4520 has five (or six) BB PCM-1795 stereo DACs (32-bit).
And if you look @ their internals, you can see the difference in build quality. ...From the heatsinks, size of main transformer, caps, etc.

I didn't mention it only because you said you wanted the cheapest. If the $300 difference isn't meaningful the 4520 does look more attractive....
