Panasonic SA-XR50 overload fault help

Hey guys. I've done a lot of reading about this fault my receiver is having and have unplugged all speakers and tried it etc. My issue is my receiver only seems to fault when I pause a 5.1 AC3 source from my HTPC. I can listen to music for hours or watch streaming video if the input signal is 2 channel. It happens when I pause the movie i'm watching or close the player (MPC and VLC although MPC does it more often). When I start up the receiver again there is a static noise when I change the volume. If I go too loud the receiver will overload again. The only way to fix this is to play the test sound on my HTPC control panel which seems to kick the receiver back into playing normally.

My fear is this will be hard to replicate if I bring it into a shop. It doesn't happen very often. Is this worth attempting to fix? And does anyone have any idea what faulty circuit would cause this? I would really like to fix this thing.

Thanks in advance for the help.
