resolution and sound issue .

I have a sanyo crt hdtv. I believe its 1080I. Denon avr 887 and twc, cisco hd box.

On some movies channels (and maybe some other channels) when its dolby digital its full screen and obviously dd, but when its dpl something its letterbox all around.

I leave the twc resolution on 1080i . It seems to be best, sometimes on auto it seems to be 480i. I have changes it to auto, or specifically each one and it still is as above. I am thinking it may be a setting on the denon, but have not had luck findinG it.

As always, thanks for reading and helping.

Is there a list of channels and the audio/resolution options?
I no longer think I am an idiot. I believe I can confirm it. I guess I never noticed my other tv's do the same thing. I guess I did but the real difference in the garage is the audio, which when dealing with tv speakers I never noticed. So the issue is with the standard def channels I bet. Also not having dolby digital.
