I currently have a Denon Avr x3100w and I am planning on running some outdoor speakercraft OE8s and they will be located 100ft from the AVR behind my pool in the planter and wanted to know which amp would work. Niles, russound etc.
I was told with a long drop over 100' that I would need a separate amp to run on zone 2 to run consistent power to the speakers as the Avr would not last.
The question is, can I come right off the Avr and pull cable over 100' run + or - 15' to the speakers on the back side of my pool and get good sound without loosing many watts/power to the speakers? Could I do it without an additional amp?
This kind of power will go 100'. Use 12 gauge wire too. On sale. A little overkill. Lot cheaper than Niles. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/crown-x2000-stereo-2x450w-power-amp
Zone2 off the receiver amps is fine unless the main zone is loud. At that point zone2
isn't getting that much power. Those speakers are rated to 150 watts full range.
Its a stereo receiver (100W x 2), plenty of power..
Connect the Zone II L/R line outs from the 3100, plug into the RX4508's L/R Aux inputs.
Now U have a second FM tuner for the outside speakers, dedicated tone controls plus BlueTooth so U can stream music from an Android or iPhone to the outside speakers.
Crown is one of the most reliable professional amplifier companies and is highly recommended
around here. Even for home theater. Same distortion/signal-nose ratio as the receiver.
Plenty good for outdoor. Just don't get it wet. Having a thicker wire (12) and extra power
in those wires will travel a long ways. Which you need. Pro power is cheap, but this is ridiculous.
I went with the Niles SI-2150 which should be fine. I also went forward with the Speakercraft OE8's and OE6's for around my pool deck for sound.
