Please see my attached spreadsheet. I've done my research and compared the specs and numbers for these 4 AVRs, all of which seem to meet my minimum requirements on paper. I'm looking to purchase my first AVR and this will be for my first surround sound set up as well. Therefore, being a noob with no previous experience to draw upon, I must rely on the experts' advice here. Based on my specs requirements and personal preferences i'm listing below, please let me know which AVR you would pick from my spreadsheet (and why?).
My specs requirements:
- 7 channels
- Full HDMI 2.0a (4K @ 60Hz 4:4:4)/HDR/HDCP 2.2 support
- Dolby Atmos and DTS:X
- Includes room correction software
My preferences:
- Must have "enough" power output for my future speakers. The 4 AVRs I compared range from 100W to 135W, and each one differs by roughly 10W. To me a 10W increment doesn't sound like much of a difference, or does it?
- To be honest, I have no idea what speakers I'll be getting. Have not started researching that yet. What I do see from the posts in this forum is that certain brands of AVRs pair better with certain brands of speakers. It even seems like a certain choice of speakers can completely discourage the use with a certain choice of AVR due to the AVR not being rated for the load. I would prefer the recommendation of an AVR that would work more optimally with the better speakers than with the lower end speakers.
- Obviously, my surround sound setup would be for movies. But I have just as much love (if not more) for 2-ch music listening. So if any of these AVRs are highly acclaimed for their music sound quality, I will definitely take that into consideration too.
- Lastly and most subjectively, of the 4 brands in my list, which one is most consistent and trusted in quality?
- Nevermind, here's the last question: Any other receivers from other brands I should add to my list for consideration?
