Cost breakpoint for refurb over new?

Is there any general rule as to when it makes sense to buy a refurbished receiver over new? Looking at a new receiver that is $100 less for a refurb at accessories4less than new at Crutchfield or Amazon. Should I just get the new one for an extra $100?

No general rule, as it's purely personal preference. Might be worth to some to pay the $100 to get a brand new untouched unit with full factory warranty vice a refurb with generally only 1 year warranty and the possibility of getting a unit that could look brand new or be scratched up/dented with possible issues not necessarily found or diagnosed if any repair work was done.
