In anticipation of CES 2016, there's lots of recent news from Emotiva, including the introduction of the Generation 3 XPA amplifiers. The company will debut its updated XPA line of audiophile-grade amps at CES in Las Vegas and I'll be there to check 'em out.

The XPA Gen 3 amplifiers are significantly different from the models they replace. Crucially, a sophisticated switch-mode power supply takes the place of the transformer. These are modular amps—assembled in the USA—where the same chassis accommodates all the current models and can be upgraded with ease.

The new amps feature Emotiva’s XPR amplifier topology. The XPA Gen 3's design accommodates 1 to 7 channels, various power levels, and is suitable for uses ranging from high-end stereo amplification to powering a surround system.

All XPA Gen 3 amplifiers share the same chassis and power supply. Any XPA G3 amp can be upgraded to hold up to seven channels of amplification post-purchase. Each channel of amplification combines differential input, short signal path Class A/B amplifier circuitry, and Class H power topology. The result is audiophile-grade sound quality and high efficiency.

The new, high performance switching power supply delivers exceptional efficiency and low noise performance. It adapts to any line voltage between 100V and 250V automatically. Furthermore, the new power supply reduces the overall weight of the system, making for easy handling and installation. XPA Gen 3 amps can be configured from two channels at 350 watts per channel into 8 ohms, up to seven channels at 250 watts per channel into 8 ohms.

The XPA-2 G3 ($1000) offers 2 channels at 350 watts per channel into 8 ohms. The XPA-3 G3 ($1120) has 3 channels and offers 300 watts per channel into 8 ohms. The XPA-4 G3 ($1400) is a 4 channel amp that offers 275 watts per channel of power into 8 ohms. The XPA-5 G3 ($1600) has 5 channels and pumps 275 watts per channel into 8 ohms. Emotiva's XPA-6 G3 ($1800) is a 6 channel amp with 250 watts per channel of output into 8 ohms. Finally, the XPA-7 G3 ($2000) comes equipped with 7 channels of amplification, outputting 250 watts per channel into 8 ohms.

Emotiva also announced a new line of AV components called Emersa , and unveiled a significant expansion of its Airmotiv line of speakers.
