Question Pro amp wattage claims?

So I'm considering purchasing a new Pro amp to power my IB and sealed Tempest subs. I'm thinking about using one channel for the IB and the other for the sealed Tempest. I've been looking at the new Crown XLS series 2 amps. However I now these days the wattage ratings are usually a bit inflated for marketing purposes. Is there any way to decipher what the real world output is on these amps so as to make a better decision on which model to pick?

They are two-channel professional amps. I have not found their wattage ratings to be inflated but YMMV. A doubling in power is not much increase in perceived loudness so not sure I'd be too concerned anyway...

Its how the watts are marketed and the specific spec involved, not that they're inflated particularly. Will most pro amps automatically proclaim a 20Hz-20kHz rating at .01 THD into 8 ohm for the home "audiophile"? No, they're more likely to be a total bridged capability at the lowest impedance it can drive measured at 1kHz at maybe .5 to 1% THD as throwing that number out there is more impressive. Big deal.

That said, the XLS amps are just fine Here's the data sheet http://www.crownaudio.com/media/wysi..._datasheet.pdf
