A/V receiver with 2 HDMI output

Hi,

I want to buy an audio receiver with 2 HDMI output, but im not sure if the setup I want is going to work. I want my A/V in the basement. I will use it for a projector in the basement and a TV upstairs. 1 HDMI output will be the projector and the other HDMI output will be the TV.

My questions is : Can I setup everything so that when the TV output is selected, the sound comes from the TV and not my 7.1 audio home theater in the basement. If I can, how can I ?

Thanks !

You would need an AVR that has a Zone 2 HDMI monitor output in order to pass the HDMI source audio/video to the TV. The following are the lowest level models in each of the brands listed that have this feature:

Denon X3200W
Marantz SR6010
Yamaha A1050

------------
"JD" - Call 585-645-1006 or email jd@avscience.com for AVR selection and pricing discussion 8am - 8pm EST daily (incl Sat/Sun)
AV Science - Authorized dealer for Denon, Marantz, Yamaha, Onkyo, Def Tech, SVS, Oppo

Ask me how to get a FREE HEOS 1 HS2 wireless/Bluetooth speaker.

I was just wondering this exact same thing last night. I had contemplated using the Pioneer SC-1223-K for this purpose, with the multi channel audio powering my tv/speakers in the back yard while the TV in the living room (no second receiver/external speakers, wall mounted) would be fed audio/video by the second HDMI out. Does anyone on here know if this Pioneer will pass audio over the subzone HDMI? If you look on page 33 of the manual for that unit, one way to wire the subzone (HDZONE as they call it) is connecting an HDMI cable directly from the second HDMI out to a second receiver. This would lead me to believe that audio is being passed since no speakers are wired directly from the 1223.

Thanks!

You can pass 2.0 to Zone 2, yes.

Yes. That is the point of Zone 2. Note however, that if you watch the same source in both places, the main zone will be down mixed to 2CH stereo if that is the only audio signal that the 1st floor TV can receive.
