IFA is 9/7/16 so just 2 1/2 weeks away & we will all know more about these new AVR's including the other 11ch & 11amp 2016 AVR's from Onkyo, Denon, etc. IFA is another venue where they typically unveil all the goodies we enjoy.

So after the findings that the Onkyo RZ-3100 looks te be the same device as the SC-LX901.

I am going to follow the thread here. Which is very empty BTW.

Panasonic TX-P65VTW60 | Panasonic DMP-BDT500 | Asus Chromebox OpenELEC triple boot | Pioneer SC-LX89 | 6 X Monitor Audio Apex 10 | Canton Chrono SL 590 black | Klipsch R-115W | BK Sub XXLS400 | Zalman HTPC | Harmony Ultimate

Pioneer SC-LX701 / SC-801 / SC-LX901 Receviers

I spotted a pioneer sclx501 at magnolia for the fist time. Overall, onkyo influence is all over, this is sc91 equivalent. Side fan is now gone, display looks a little different. Remote is much more streamlined like on lc301 and 101 models.

If the back of the SC-LX901 is correct then looks like still not all
HDMI's are 4k HDCP 2.2. Last 2 on left side do not show HDCP 2.2 under them

Cheers

Look like five inputs are hdcp 2.2 which is an improvement over just three on 2015 models.

To me it is unacceptable that they cut this corner on a 2-2500k receiver

Why? How many HDCP2.2 devices you have to hook up really?

By the time you can fill those slots. You bought a new one.

I get what you mean but a year ago when I got my SC97 I thought 3 was enough...wrong they are full.....now with
PS4 4k coming out next year Ill need a 4th and who knows how many other things may come out. Just
saying they are they only ones doing this. Marantz, Denon Yamaha all have all HDMI 2.0A HDCP2.2.
Just seems odd the cut that corner. Ideally I would like receiver to last a lot long than that for futureproofing

Do any legacy or new 2016 AVR models support any of those features mentioned?

While i dont need more than three or five, i agree that is unacceptable to not make all hdcp2.2 compliant at this price point. Denons and Yamaha's has them on all ( ymahas on their higher end aventage models) on their models why cant pioneer and onkyo?

Digital Trends, September 15, 2016:

"The SC-LX901 is the first 11.1-channel model from Pioneer. It’s powered by an 880-watt class D3 (Direct Energy HD) amplifier that the company says is capable of providing simultaneous output across every channel with no power loss."

So, other than 11 channels - what does the LX-901 have that the SC-99 doesn't?

Can you start a owners thread? I don't think there is one. I am interested in this model and looking for owners feedback. I am planning to buy before holidays.

Speakers : Klipsch RP-280F
Center : Klipsch RP-440C
SW : Klipsch R-112SW

Having owned only Pioneer receivers VSX-52 Elite & one prior (don't remember the model number); I was looking for a new AVR that supported 4k w/HDCP 2.2 so I decided to purchase the new SC-LX701. After running the MCACC and manually adjusting with REW using my UMIK-1 I was not happy with the sound the unit was producing. I have always enjoyed my prior Pioneer AVRs but this unit to me sounds to bright & artificial. I spent hours tweaking EQ & level settings never to achieve a natural sounding sound stage. I cant say why the SC-LX701 sounds so drastically different from my VSX-52, it could be the DACs or the different Class D3 amps. I ended up exchanging the unity for an open box Yamaha 2060 for $300 off sticker. With the Yamaha I ran the YPAO, set the speaker size, X-over, set the subwoofer level and was done, this was by far the best most natural sound I have had with minimal to no effort on my part. I haven't even run REW and don't think I even want too.

I know Klipsch are suppose to be bright speakers to begin with but with the Yamaha they sound so amazing.

Please don't read this as Pioneer bashing, I loved my prior Pioneer AVRs, I just wanted to share my experience with the SC-LX701.

I had a similar experience with a Pioneer SC-85. I sold that unit for a Yamaha 3040 at the time (iirc). Something was just off with the Pioneer.

I was hoping it was just a one off for that series. I need another avr for a second room and was looking back at Pioneer.

Personally I think you are hearing an Onkyo sound signature. Because the RZ-series are based on the same new Pioneer series.

Except the DAC section is different. Onkyo uses an AKM solution while Pioneer uses an ESS Sabre solution.

Expect them to sound different.

I have the Lx89 and it sounds great.
The new LX series has a simplified / graded down version of MCACC.
