Official Marantz AV7703 Thread

Sorry, I know nothing about it. My AV7702 got cooked in a lightning strike, so I need a new prepro.

I placed a preorder, so figured I'd start a thread .

Now that ^^^ is an underwhelming start to an **OFFICIAL** thread !

I think this may well be my next processor.

Cheers,

Haha, hard to find anything on it. I'm just figuring it will have the latest/greatest at a price that's less than the 8802.

I did read that they may have eliminated wides, I hope that's not the case.

The really big news is that it supports HEOS !!!

I know you can't wait to get some new wireless speakers.

It's supposedly being released in October so @jdsmoothie will likely have more info soon. There are plenty of images on the net if you search around.

Actually, I was kidding (apparently don't know you well ) but I'll be damned if you didn't get me thinking that this might be a nice home audio distribution system minus the wires. Even got the wife liking the idea. Thanks for the unexpected inspiration.

Yes indeed. The new built-in HEOS module will allow using the Denon HEOS app to stream (currently) about a dozen different music streaming services (including Pandora, Spotify, TuneIn, AmazonMusic, Deezer, Napster, iHeartRadio, SiriusXM, SOUNDCLOUD, and TIDAL) to include internet radio (ie. no longer will networking sources be based on the AVR/AVP). Additionally, 2CH sources connected to the AVR will also be able to stream to HEOS wireless speakers placed around the home (ie. up to 32 different zones can be created or speakers can be grouped together for whole house audio). You'll be able to stream different audio to every speaker if you choose (eg. different Pandora playlists). Denon HEOS speakers come in (4) different sizes: 1/3/5/7 with the smallest, HEOS 1 suitable for a bathroom or when traveling on the road and you want a high quality speaker to stream to using Wifi or Bluetooth up to the HEOS 7 which includes a built-in subwoofer and more suitable for larger living rooms. I have a HEOS 5 in my smallish living room which I can also unplug and place on the patio or in the garage when I want to continue to listen to music while outside.

Thought the 7702MII was not long for this world when rep was offering $200 a unit.

Interesting. Will the 7703 have any improvements over the 7702 Mk II in regard to SQ especially for music? Any links form Marantz? I looked but didn't see anything. Is there a release date?

Bill

My SACD collection and HRAudio.net Library, getting larger as my wallet gets smaller ;-).

This will most likely be next purchase, I want to setup 5.1.4 atmos. I wish marantz would allow 4 saved speaker setups like Anthem does, that would be nice. I could then setup a 5.1.4 and keep my current 7.1 and switch back and forth. I was considering the 8802A but was told to save the money since i will not be using this for music only Tv and Movies.

No info has been released on the AV7703 as yet, however, expected release date is October.

jd,

Thanks ! Seems kind of odd that there is no information on the 7703 with the release date so close.

From what I read and see, not a lot. The new room calibration app...Heos... not a lot more on the preamp side. The pickings were slim on the Denon side of the house too -- hence the additional pair of amp channels on the AVR-6300H. That's a more significant upgrade for those who run big setups. For the Marantz preamp owners, unless you are coming from a 7702 (non-MKii) or earlier, I couldn't imagine upgrading.

If the 7703 pushes the 7702MKII prices way down, I might get that as my next processor.

Is the 8802 still the unit to get for music , or is the mkii or 7703 gonna be a good option too . I am currently using oppo 105 to parasound p7 for everything and want something similar in sq actually a little smoother since the sabre Dac is to bright for my setup

Ability to use the forthcoming Audsssey app, which is reputed to allow the following massive improvements:
1) ability to bandwidth-limit correction
2) ability to modify the target curve, including getting rid of the crappy speakers compensation notch.

So for people who don't care about sound quality, few changes. For people who do, a potentially gigantic upgrade. But the devil is in the details, so I'd wait until the app is in the field personally.

Hmm, hope that is correct. Either way I'm getting it, but all that would be great. It would close the gap significantly on Dirac.

The AV8802A is still the "flagship", providing the best audio quality; however, the MKII or yet to be released AV7703 would still be good choices as well at a much lower price point.

The rumor is D&M is holding the last remaining stock for thier preferred online resellers. Projected MSRP on the 7702MKII at close out is $1,495.00 but quantities will be limited.

IMHO this Ken Ishiwata positioning on the 7703, gives quite nice perspectives as what a 8803, probably 8804 next year, could look like...

My thoughts exactly but it will have to be more than just a tad for me to depart with my 8802
