I have an Onkyo NR818 that got hit with a power surge and no longer works. Unfortunately it wasn't any of the fuses and requires repair by someone who knows wtf they are doing. It's a 40lb paperweight right now - is there any market for these either for repair/resale or parts? Or any suggestions? Repair price quoted drove me to buy a replacement (and less costly) receiver. It seems wrong to just trash it, surely someone can at least use some of the parts?
I could see it being useful for parts in case my 818 fails. I'd be willing to pay shipping charges. Do you have the original box? If not, I could send mine to you to pack it in.
I'm not going to pay much beyond the shipping charges, but I'll do my best to keep it out of a landfill. Let me know.
A working 818 is worth between $225 to $275...
A non-working 818 is worth $50...
Donate it to a charity such as the Salvation Army or Goodwill and take the write-off.
Just my $0.02...
