Hello everyone first wanted to introduce myself I'm new to the forum haf a very old account but had to create a new one recently. I'm looking for some possible help and advice on which configuration might be most beneficial for me.
I previously had a 7.1 setup nothing too crazy just a basic one with onkyo speakers and Sony receiver.
We recently bought a new house with a finished basement where I plan on installing a new home theater setup. It's approximately 10 x 25, with only 7ft ceilings possibly 8ft. the main couch is about 10 feet from the TV, which is a 65 inch Samsung curved 4K TV the 8500 series. The surround speakers would be to the left and right of the couch, The surround speakers would be to the left and right of the couch, while the tears would be on the back wall 12-15ft behind the couch
My original plan was to do a 7.1.2 system, but I've been reading a lot and I would need a receiver that will do at least nine channels in order to run that setup which is a much higher cost. Given the room size would I see a huge impact negatively if I did 5.1.2 over 7.1.2? I'm so used to 7.1 and I've never heard a Dolby atmos setup,so I'm wondering if losing the rears to gain atmos is worth it or if I should wait until I can get a better receiver and stick with 7.1.2 Thanks for the help
