Help wth HT

I have an onkyo tx-nr818 with def tech bp8060st, cs8060cs, sr8040 as surrounds and sr8040 as back surrounds. I would like to add in ceiling speakers. Do I need to add a preamp I order to run the in ceiling speakers?

What could I do to improve on this system? Other than finishing the base, net ( working on that)

Your 818 has 7 amps so if you want more than 7 speakers, you need external amp and using pre-out which supports 9.2
818 does not support dolby atmos just FYI.
