No audio from TV well for 10 seconds

No audio from TV well for 10 seconds

When I turn the TV on the TVs volumne comes on for 10 seconds then mutes itself.

The Samsung TV is set to internal speaker.

I have the Yamaha 465RX AVR connected to the HTPC/DVR/TV all w/ HDMI cables
Then there’s a optical cable out of AVR directely into TV.

When I switch from TV to either HTPC or DVR the audio plays fine (as it always has for 5 years) though the AVR.

Just no audio from TV.

I recentely messed around w/ the Yamaha setting (don't rememeber changing anything) and now have a red HDMI passthough dot comes on when the whole Sys. Is shutdown.

this is when the new problem audio started

Please advice STB

It confused me too. I also asked what's a TV well?

My guess you have problem with the optical cable, have you tried replacing it? Seems all the HDMI devices work fine.

set it to external unless you are using it as a center

Audyssey is a great start, but not always a great finish.

how can I test the optical cable?

I removed the optical cable from the AVR observed red laser light coming from AVR when I removed cable from the back of TV it wasn't quite as bright.

maybe I need to use a chem-wipe ( a treated tissuse paper used to clean fiber optic telephony terminations that leaves on scrachs or debre) like I don't want to throw parts at a config. problem.

still no TV audio.

Seems to me something was changed after all... Check the Yamaha settings again, and make sure AnyNET is turned off on the TV.
