Marantz SR5008 setup question using subwoofer for music

I have a Marantz SR5008 that I use for 95% home theater, but I do like to listen to music from time to time. When I choose 2-channel audio for music, the sub is not active. Is there a setting that I can basically have 2.1 for stereo?

Exactly what do you do to choose 2-channel audio? There are several different ways to do that and the "fix" is different for each.

However, double check to make sure that your front speakers are set to Small. That enables bass management, so that low frequencies are redirected to the subwoofer.

Alternatively, if you select Direct or Pure Direct, then you'll have to also select "LFE+MAIN" so that low frequencies are copied to the subwoofer. (Note that this results in "double bass" since it does not remove those low frequencies from the main speaker channels.)

Yes there is. I used it all the time. There is a "music" button at the bottom of the remote. Hold it down and a menu with several music modes comes up. Give them a try.

Thank you!! That is exactly what I needed. I thought I had tried this before and got 2 channel audio, but I got 2.1 this time.
