Need help installing av reciver

Hello I have an av reciver I want to set up on my smart tv which has netflix. The tv has an hdmi arc and a optical port that's all and the reciver all basicly every thing. I just can't figure out how to hook up the reciver to play sound off my new speakers instead of the TV on netflicks.

Would help to know the brand/model of AVR. Beyond that, the more reliable connection is using the optical cable from the TV --> AVR. Setting the TV to external speakers/home theater should pass the Netflix audio to the optical input on the AVR.

Doesn't seem to support HDMI(ARC) so using the optical cable would be your only option to pass audio from the TV ---> AVR.

Need help installing av reciver

If it didn't come with the manual from your seller, Google online ... more likely than not the manual is available for download. Download, read, enjoy.

I used ARC without too many hassles, but found that either the Samsung TV or the Netflix app on it were introducing audio dropouts converting from Dolby Digital+ to Dolby Digital. I concur, using SPDIF is generally more reliable (only requires a single cable, available super cheap from Monoprice.com).

Hey, folks. A 10-line signature on a post of only 3 lines is a joke. Cut your sigs down to no more than 4 lines, 'kay??

Manual is here:

https://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model...ls#/manualsTab

It's from 2007. It has two HDMI inputs and one output, but I think that you can forget about 4k pass-through or ARC.

It has two optical inputs plus a digital coaxial one. Connect the TV to the receiver using an optical cable. (Buy one online. Places like BestBuy may charge much higher prices for the same quality cables.)

I've had great luck with Monoprice cables.
